Dr. Ibrahim Altan

General Manager, Turkish Red Crescent (Turkey)

Born in 1964 in Beykoz - Istanbul, graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Marmara University. He received his doctorate and master's degree from the Institute of Social Sciences at Marmara University. his MA thesis was entitled "The status of Sicily in the History of Islam", and his doctoral thesis is entitled "Trade relations between North Africa and Italy in the twenty-first century" Dr. Altan worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Theology at Sakarya University between 1993 - 2004. 

Dr. Altan authored many articles in "Encyclopedia of Islamic Religion" and were published in scientific journals and newspapers. He stayed in Italy for a year to study for his doctorate, and conducted research in his field in Rome, Perugia and Sicily. Since February 2013, he has been working as Turkey's representative in the Department of Humanitarian Affairs in The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He has held the position of General Director of the Turkish Red Crescent since 2018.
