Dr. Suha Al-Hassan
Early Childhood and Special Education Consultant (Jordan)
Suha worked as professor of special education at the Emirates College for Advanced Education in UAE from 2014 to 2020. Prior to joining the College, she served as the Dean of Queen Rania Faculty for Childhood at the Hashemite University in Jordan for several years.
Since 2004, Dr. Al-Hassan has consulted for several national and international organizations in Early childhood and special education, and led the development and evaluation of programs such as ‘School Readiness’, the evaluation of early childhood reform in Jordan, and the ‘Better Parenting Program’ for UNICEF, and recently co-developed the Developing Standards for ECD Parenting Programmes in Low and middle Income Countries for UNUICEF
Dr. Al-Hassan is a very active researcher. She has been a research team member in th longitudinal study Parents’ Behaviors and Child Adjustment Across Cultures’ (http://parentingacrosscultures.org/) (2008-2022). The Study is funded from the National Institute of Health, USA in collaboration with Duke University. Suha is the only researcher from the Middle East and work with researchers from the USA, Italy, China, Kenya, Sweden, Colombia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Suha published and co-published more than 50 articles in prestigious and highly reputable refereed international journals such as: Child Development, International Journal of Behavioral Development, Developmental Psychology, Development and Psychopathology, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Child Development Perspectives, Early Childhood Matters, International Journal of Pediatrics, Parenting: Science and Practice, and Early Years Journal: An International Journal of Research and Development.
